My new goal after utilizing the second transfer is to start a business selling charcoal to provide for my family. Therefore, I bought six goats for KES 24000.00. I chose goats over cows because they are more resistant to drought. Thereafter, I bought a standard modern bed and a mattress for KES 8000.00 because I used to sleep on a traditional bed with a torn mat. I also paid KES 6000.00 for school fees for my two children who were almost to be sent out of school due to school fees. Since they had tattered school uniforms, I bought two pairs for each one amounting to KES 2000.00. Thereafter, I bought five bales of maize flour for KES 6000.00 to ensure food security at home and saved the remaining amount.

It was around 10 am. I Was just at home preparing lunch. When I heard a ringtone message from my phone. When I checked it out felt so happy. This is because I have never received such an amount of money before. I was just alone at home, I immediately called my spouse to inform them about the money. He felt so happy and he was lack of words. I knew I would be able to boost my small business. This would increase the income and profits. We are so grateful because GiveDirectly has changed our living standards.

I can meet all the basic needs and I have saved some amount for school fees When the school opens. I no longer get stressed or worried because I know my tomorrow is better. I wish to keep it and expand in the future. I am so grateful for the support because GiveDirectly has enabled us to expand our business and live a better life.

I spent KES 20,000 on purchasing six goats. This is a good investment that I had always wanted to start but I did not have the money. Goats reproduce faster and help during an emergency. I am so grateful because I have fulfilled this wish. I spent KES 20,000 to add stock to my small business of selling charcoal. I have enough stock and I get good income and profits to meet other basic household basic needs. For the rest of the money, I bought food and clothes for my children.
