Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my life is that I have managed to clear a debt that I got from the savings group for paying my daughter's school fees and these makes me happy. I have also plastered my daughter's house, It is now beautiful and dust free. Before I got the transfers, I was stressed over the debt because the interest kept on accumulating yet the rice that I was meant to sell was not yet ready for harvest. My daugter was sleeping in a dusty house.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment my son told me the money was in my phone, I felt so happy and thanked God for giving his servants (GiveDirectly) wisdom that enabled them to think of supporting the poor by giving unconditional cash.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent UGX 600,000 of my first transfer for paying fees for my daughter who is doing a tailoring course. I bought kitchen utensils, a cloth and a blanket. The balance was spent on purchase of food and for cementing the floor of my house.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will buy an acre of land. I will cultivate in it and the food produced will be adequate enough to support the household through sale and food. Currently, we hire land every year which makes it expensive to sustain.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is after lunch. I am happy around this time because it is the only free time I usually have. When I am free, visitors come and I am able to welcome them and engage them freely compared to when I am busy. Speaking to other people is medicine because, it is a stress reliever. I share experiences with other people which is healthy for me at my age.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face in my life is lack of enough land. I hire land every year and most of it is not fertile enough. I rely on food for sale and some to feed my household. Food shortage makes me worried about what the family will feed on and how family needs will be solved.
