Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was sitting at my house when I heard a message notification on my phone. At first I did not paid attention to reading it. After a while I heard some community members shouting and dancing about their transfers coming to their phones. To my surprise when I opened the message, it was the mobile money message from GiveDirectly that we all been waiting to see. Immediately I told my wife about it and we decided that the next day I should go and cash out the. The next day I got dressed and went to Buchanan city to cash out the money. I was really happy as this is the first time for me to receive such an amount of money without working for it.

I no longer worry about where to get money to complete the construction of my house I started last year because the first transfer has helped me secured two bundles of zinc. I am sleeping comfortably these days because I have a mattress in my room that I sleep on which I bought with portion of this recent payment I received from GiveDirectly. As seeing, I am currently living in a thatched house. I am now going to be able to build a zinc house from the transfers GiveDirectly is giving me.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I will built a decent house on the parcel of land at the front of my current house, the house I am living in was build in the days of my youth, I have always thought of having a dream house but things have been hard and I have never been fortunate to raise money that will make my dream come true.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My wife is the only reason why I have been happy in the last six months, she has always tried hard to put smile on my face even when things are difficult, she was able to have taken me to a private clinic and I was told that there is a possibility of me getting well soon, that was the best news I have gotten in years.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I am sick and that is the major challenge I am experiencing, as a result of that I cannot do farm work, money is another challenge, I depend on my wife for almost everything money can do because of my disability, I used to be the one taking full responsibility of this family prior to my sickness.
