How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has changed because I have paid off the debt and repossessed my farm land which I will start to cultivate in the next season. I'm now sure of food security in my home compared to before when I suffered from food shortage because I rented out most of the farm land and cultivated late. In addition, I have got enough lighting in my house. Previously, I used a torch which was costly because I had to buy dry cells every week.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done well by helping me repossess my farm land which I had used as security for the loan I got and also acquire a bull for ploughing. GiveDirectly has not done anything wrong.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I bought 2 goats and 2 pigs, repaired my motorbike, bought clothes/household goods, cleared debts and paid medical bills. The recipient could not remember all items bought and amounts.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my life is that I can cultivate on time since I now own a bull used for ploughing. Secondly I do pay my child's school fees on time allowing him concentrate in class rather than being home for defaulting fees. My dress code has improve because I was able to buy new clothes therefore my self esteem is high as compared to the past when I was laughed at by the community because of torn clothes.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
We were so happy that moment in time when we received our transfer. we worshipped and praised God for having liberated us through GiveDirectly because we believe God answers people's prayers differently.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I and my spouse decided to spend this transfer on purchasing livestock, household items and sought medical attention.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will construct an iron roofed house. Right now Iam sleeping in a grass thatched house and buying grass has become expensive. Part of that money, I will purchase cows and some goats that I keep to cater for my childrens education.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is evening. This is the time that my husband always comes back from work. It's great joy for me to see him return after his hard work. We also chat and plan for the following day at this particular time of the day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship Iam faced with is lack of oxen and ox plough for ploughing. There is land for farming but opening it up is a challenge.
