How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has changed in that I am now a happy and a stress free person given that I am living postively. This is because the financial help that I got has enabled me to see to it that my child's tution is catered for. Prior to getting this transfer, I really had no proper way except for selling off the rice I had farmed to partially pay her tution or when it totally failed, she would come back home and wait until I managed to raise money to take her back to school.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly has done well by coming and offering unconditional financial help to my home. On the other hand, there is nothing bad that GiveDirectly has done.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer Ugx 1000000 pay up a tution debt for my child who is in teacher's training school. I then used Ugx 600000 to book the timber I plan to use for roofing my house. I spent the balance on personal effects.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My daily life is different in that, I have a peace of mind because I commenced the construction of my permanent house. Before, I had no hope of building a permanent house since I had no source of income. In addition, the thatched house I live in leaks and this robbed my mind of peace coupled with living positive.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When I saw the money in my phone, I felt too happy. This meant I would no longer worry about how to raise money for construction.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I bought cement, iron sheets and paid the builders with my first transfer.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means having educated children that are empowered to survive on their own. I will be able to pay school fees for my children in time which will make them better citizens who in turn will support my household at old age.Currently, I have three children at school and there is a challenge in paying their school fees. Their father is a teacher who gets little money that can not pay off all the tuition in time hence some are sent home due to non payment of school fees.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is at 9:00am when I have finished praying. That relieves me off the stress that I could have had and makes me think positive a bout life a head of me. I am living positively with my HIV /AIDS status and living a happy person is very important to me.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Paying school fees for my children is my biggest hardship. I find it very challenging to pay school fees for my children because my main source I income is through farming though my spouse who is a tracher suppliments, it still remains big challenge. My children do not added classes regularly which affects their performance at school hence poor grades.
