How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different because for one I had hoped of buying a calf but I never had enough money to purchase it, so the desire just remained to be a dream which could never materialize. Apart from that, I also managed to get a new house which I never thought I would get as soon as I did because my little amount of money cane never get me such a house.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
According to me, I think GD is doing a good thing by helping the needy by giving them unconditional cash transfers which helps them in alleviating their lives and solving their day to day needs.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the cash to buy a few household items such as sofa-sets, a new table and bedding. I also used a portion of the money to buy a calf which I will rear until such a time that it will mature and give birth to other calves which according to me will be very beneficial to me.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
For a long time, I had longed for a decent house so that I could also have some prides like fellow men in the village but I couldn't afford it. Having constructed a decent house has given a lot of pride and peace because I'm not worried anymore of the house falling on us and at the same time I do not have to wake up my family at night whenever it rains so that we could pack the households in a corner for them not to be rained on.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
On that day my phone was almost going off for lack of power, so I decided to switch it off while sleeping in order to preserve power to be used the following morning. So when I woke up, I switched it on to check the time and to my surprise, I received a message confirming that I had received money from GiveDirectly. I couldn't believe and I had to purchase some airtime so that I could be sure I had received money and to my disbelief it was true I had received money. It was such a joyous moment.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I had an old leaking grass thatch house and whenever it rained we had to store our households in a corner so that they couldn't be ruined by the rain. At the same time, the house had cracks on the wall which was so risky and I feared it could fall on us at any time and harm us. When I received the first transfer I bought building materials which I have already used to construct a big iron roof house. Aside from that, I bought bedding to replace the old worn out bedding which was uncomfortable sleeping on.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that my household will be relieved from continuous stress related to lack of food. I shall spend it to buy a dairy cattle from which we shall be able to get more milk for sale.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when I witness success in a number of plans I have undertaken throughout the day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is my inability to support my family well. My sources of income are too low to support my family needs.
