How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Yes, my goal is to boost my small shop business which I had started with KES 30,000 of my transfer from GiveDirectly. This is because it is currently not stable due to less stock. After all, I lack additional capital to invest in the business. Currently, I am earning an income of KES 400 per day and I am confident that I will increase my earnings something that will help me meet the family's needs without so much struggling.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well for offering out training before they could send the transfer especially on the security of the transfer. In addition, the officers were very polite. I don't see anything that it does not do well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent my transfer to construct a decent shelter by renovating my house which was collapsing. I bought new building poles since most of them had rotten due to termites that had attacked them. I also spent KES 8000 to boost my livestock rearing by purchasing two more goats. This is a long-term investment for my family which will assist me in case I face any financial challenges in the future. I also bought some pairs of clothes for every family member since we had old and few clothes to change. With the remaining amount, I bought sufficient foodstuffs for the family.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was 9 a.m and I was at home. I was going about my daily duties when I received a message notification. I decided to check my phone. What a pleasant surprise! I had received KES 55,000. I called my husband to let him know about the amazing news. We felt so lucky and blessed.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Until a few weeks ago, my family had no source of income. My husband and I were unemployed. This made it difficult for us to provide food, shelter and clothing for our three children. As a mother, this was a heartbreaking situation to be in because I want the best for my sons.
However, this is no longer the case. The transfer from GiveDirectly enabled me to start my own business. I sell foodstuff and the business is doing well. On average, I make KES 1,900 from the same. I am now able to cater for my family's needs. It's amazing how much GiveDirectly has changed our lives.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Lack of a source of income has caused my family a lot of pain. Because my husband and I were unemployed, we could not afford to provide the basic needs of food, shelter and clothing for our three sons. So it was such a relief to receive this transfer. I spent KES 25,000 on starting a business where we sell foodstuff. I also bought goats worth KES 15,000. I plan to sell these when I need money. Finally, I spent KES 14,000 on improving part of our house that was old and falling apart, to ensure my family's safety.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means investment in livestock. It have been my desire to start rearing goats and cows for milk production for a long time since, it is invaluable source of income and resources to depend on in future. I am planning to utilize 40000 to purchase 4 cows , 15000 to buy goats and the remaining amount to add stock to my grocery business.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning. Waking up in the morning healthy together with my family makes me Happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I have a grocery business here at home and it does not work well due to high dependacy on it. My husband do casual jobs nearby town which earn an income of 200 Kenya Shillings a day. This is inadquate to meet our daily needs for our family of 5. Hence, I have never manage to save any money for livestock development project that I desired start for long.
