How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I am now a poultry farmer. The business has been doing well. It has been helping me a lot in meeting most of my family's daily needs. It is what I have been using to buy food and at times pay school fees for my kids. Most people in this village love eggs. This is the product that has the highest sale so far. Nowadays I don't strain so much like I used to do before I started this business.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My additional goal is to add one more heifer to the two that I already have. With the earnings which I will be receiving from my business put together with the transfers which I will be receiving from Give Directly would enable me to buy one in the next two months. I am happy that I got to earn a reasonable amount from my business which helps me taking care of my daily expenditure. We no longer spend much daily because some we at times eat the eggs or the chicken.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
In May, I managed to buy a secondhand shaving machine and barbershop mirror. Now am confidence when I got two machines. I can now work better and be more efficient, whenever I have a mechanical breakdown in one of the machines I can still use the other instead of closing the shop like I used to do before when I only had one machine. Now I can alternate the machines, especially whenever there is a lot of work to do, I can easily switch them. They rarely overheat because they are now two. Initially, I would earn KES 3000 a month but now am happy that my earnings have double to KES 6000 a month.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My friend and I were planning to plant beans. He has a piece of land which is fertile and this crop would do well if all the necessary inputs are used. Since that land has been idle for a while we thought of trying this idea and earn something out of it. This is a great opportunity for us to invest our income. God willing, if everything goes well we will use the profits from the business to start other income-generating activities

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Now I got two sources of income which is poultry farming and a barbershop. With these two, I no longer seek other casual jobs. In the morning I spent some time back at home taking care of my poultry cleaning there house and feeding them. During afternoons, I go to the barbershop. Now I am happy being self-employed.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal is to buy two young bulls, I intend to raise these animals so that I can use them for ploughing. This would ease my farming and reduce the cost of production. I can also use the same to plough other people's farms at a fee. This would act as an alternative source of income.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The difference in my life in the last four months is the income which I earn from the sale of eggs. Before I didn't know that poultry farming was rewarding as such. Until recently when I gave it a test and it pretty works well for me. Now I got two sources of income which is the barbershop and poultry farming. Now I get to earn money which is sufficient to cater to my needs and left with some which I save.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I believe within six months I would have saved enough money with the aim of buying a dairy cow. We are now spending a lot of money buying milk for domestic use. When we get our own cow, we would no longer buy milk rather the surplus would be selling to get more income.
