Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Currently, my life is different from how it was in that, we nowadays eat well in that, we can afford to take three meals a day and what makes me happy is that I managed to pay school fees for my children with ease. To me, these are the greatest achievements. Being able to provide these basic needs makes me the happiest parent.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy that my dream of taking my children to school would be achieved. My child had been sent home more frequently. due to lack of school fees as I would not manage to pay on time.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
The first transfers which I received from Give Directly, I spent part of it on purchasing building materials for house construction. I bought Ironsheets, timber, nails and pay for labour. I opted to spend on building a house so that we would have a good shelter over our heads. The other portion, I spend on paying school fees for my children who are in secondary school.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
For a long time I have been planning to build a new house but it has not been possible due to other priorities such as paying school fees. With Give Directly coming in, I can now build a house as well as pay school fees for my children. My current house is very small(one room)and the roof is rusty. It leaks during the rainy season. The house will cost me 300 USD while almost the same amount will go into school fees.I have two children in secondary school and paying school fees has been a challenge.I depend on casual jobs which don't earn me enough.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I work for 8 hours a day .I work mainly in people's farms doing farm work like cultivating and weeding crops.I am usually happy while working because I normally interact with friends whom we work together. When I am back home I feel a bit stressed since I have a lot to think about. For example getting food for my children, school fees among other needs.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I depend on casual labour to make a living.I get 2 USD in a day .This is barely enough to provide the basic needs for my 8 children. With the 2 USD I am required to buy food and save a little for school fees.My husband does casual jobs too and sometimes both of us are lucky to get work to do. Casual labour is very tiresome and you are never assured of getting the job.I have 11 children in total and raising them up has been my biggest hardship.
