In the next four months, I have an additional goal to establish a poultry farming unit. For a long time, I had been contemplating how best I can start this project. Having chickens alone wasn't enough and I saw it good to come up with a plan to constructing a spacious coop then later obtaining chickens from one of the suppliers in our locality. This is one of the viable projects which will boost my income since I will always be selling eggs and also chickens whenever there is a pressing need.

The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months is the clearance of the school fees payment for my daughter. It has been a struggle before receiving the first transfer but it later came to be easy since the monthly transfer I had been receiving acted as security over the loan I had been obtaining. I had been reservicing the loan every month I received the transfers which have made it easy for me to send my daughter to school without her being sent home.

In the next six months, I expect to have completed the construction of the chicken coop and will have brought in the chicks. With the current plans I have I believed that the whole process will take me at most five months.

My additional goal for the next four months is to be able to buy a chicken wire that will be used to fence my compound even as we look forward to expanding our poultry keeping project.

I used to make local brew before I started receiving this transfers. I actually never thought that it would come a day when I would stop brewing and engage in other meaningful business activities. To me this was the only business that I could do to put food on the table for my family. This had made me lose the peace that every person would want to get in their homes. My children too were so much affected by this illegal business. From the noise and disorderliness from my clients whenever they were drunk to the daily disturbance from the law enforcement officers. Our home was not a home to be envied by anyone but we did not have an option except to put up with this kind of life in order to survive. I started small by opening up a grocery business and after a while we had reclaimed the lost glory and image of our family. We now have peace of mind and a place that we can call home. My business has greatly improved and in the last four months, I have invested a lot in poultry keeping. This is a business that will not only help us meet the cost of the basic household needs but also other needs such as payment of school fees. I currently have twenty egg laying chicken that earns me a total of KES 300 per day. We are looking forward to even greater days ahead.

In the next six months, I expect that we shall have an established poultry keeping project that will earn us enough money that can be used to meet other basic household needs. This project shall also be a savings plan that will drive us towards achieving even bigger goals; that of buying a dairy cow for the family.

Now I can afford to sleep well since the worries of paying school fees which I had previously, I have managed to take care of it with less struggle.

Now my child is almost completing her form four and this means I would have cleared her school fees. I would save my next transfer with the intention of buying a cow. I had sold which I had due to financial needs which I had previously.

My life is currently different from how it was four months ago because I am able to pay the school fee for my child with less struggle and my child is no longer being sent home for school fees arrears and thus have ample time to study compared to how it was before receiving GD cash transfer. Whenever she was sent home, it would cause me lots of stress and would run up and down looking for money to get them back to school. Now I am a happy parent seeing my child in school all throughout.

In the next six months, I would bought a dairy cow and would not be buying milk for use anymore. The surplus milk which I would be getting I would sell to earn money to cater to other family needs.

My life is currently different from how it was four months ago in that I am current living a stress-free life. The transfers has reduced the worries which I had about paying school fees for my child. I talked to the school accountant that I would pay a certain amount every month and they accepted it. I kept the promise and now am happy my child is in school studying. she is no longer being sent home for school fees when others are sent home.

At the moment, I do not any additional goals for my life. My main focus is to see my child complete school and believe in the next few months she shall be sitting for her final exams. Then I will now think of what to do with my transfers.
