How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My current goal is to start building my new house. Since I started receiving Givedirectly cash transfer I have develop paln to start my building project. This is something I am currently directing my transfer toward.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Givedirectly is good at blessing people. I'm happy that I'm part of the beneficiaries of Givedirectly. They done well in helping us build modern houses. I spent most of my transfer to buy half bundle of zinc along with five packs of zinc nails. I also save the rest of the money for sawing of planks and for workmanship.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I went to the pump to fetch water and upon my return my Sister's husband said Emily your phone was ringing. I carried the phone to my Pastor because my in-law doesn't know about phone and my Pastor said Emily GiveDirectly sent you 40375LD,.I started to cry out of joy and later started dancing and singing praising God for GD coming into my life and blessing me this much.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I am very very happy because I have never thought that I could handle such a big and huge amount of money in my life. None of my parents or family member or relative) could give me such huge money. The sorrowful thing about my life is that I am related the Law Maker of my District and we bear the same last name (Doepo) but unfortunately for me, he can no more remember that he has a relative called Emily and people have been bad muothing me about this. Every day and night I have been worrying how can my life improve and here I am today; GiveDirectly has made me to buy one of the most expensive types of zinc. In the soonest possible time I will be living under zinc roof. The thatch roof am living under right now is not a place for human to live but I thank God for GiveDirectly for changing my condition. I don't have to go through the stress of processing gari manually and sell as my source of income. GiveDirectly has change my life and added value to me.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought two buddles of blue coloured zinc to build new roof over my house. My zinc is in the church building for safe keeping because my living place right now is not safe. I used the rest of my transfer on assorted food items.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
What I plan to do with my cash transfer is to build myself a decent house within this town, the house I find myself in currently is deplorable, my heart can be in worry whenever we enter the rainy season, because the house has lot of leakages. I and my husband's hustles (rice farming and cassava selling) had not been able to generate that amount of money to get started.
What is the happiest part of your day?
What brought me happiness in the last six months is, my two children that are staying with my elder brother in Pleebo, Maryland County had made a successful pass in their academy, they had moved over to the next classes, (6th & 7th grades), which brought me so much excitement in recent time.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Those challenges I'm currently facing are, the issue of generating money to build my house, the hustle we do doesn't earn much to get us started, and the issue of supporting my children in school is a serious challenge as well, the little we earn from the rice farming and the cassava selling provides us food but the remaining isn't enough for their yearly school fees.
