How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Currently, I can afford to live in an iron-roofed house which offers a better accommodation. It has become challenging and costly to maintain a grass thatched house because the grass is scarce nowadays. Therefore, I will save the money I used on maintaining the previous grass-thatched house in providing for other pressing basic needs to my household. I feel that this house has provided comfort for my family members especially the children.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My dream is that one day I would own a dairy cow. My plan is to actualize this by making monthly contributions as a savings plan in the merry go round where we formed with members of my village after being beneficiaries to GiveDirectly.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Before the transfers, I used to live in a grass thatched house. I was not feeling very comfortable in it because most of my colleagues had iron-roofed houses. I have been feeling left out because of my low income was not enough to build one. When I started receiving these transfers, I bought building materials on a monthly basis such as nails, timber and iron sheets which I have used in building an iron-roofed house. Today, I feel like I belong in my village like the rest. At the same time, we were able to take balanced diet meals.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, we shall have accumulated enough money to buy a dairy cow. The dairy cow shall bring great relief to us as a family especially on the cost of buying milk which has proven to be so costly to us.
