How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Currently, I can afford to live in an iron-roofed house which offers a better accommodation. It has become challenging and costly to maintain a grass thatched house because the grass is scarce nowadays. Therefore, I will save the money I used on maintaining the previous grass-thatched house in providing for other pressing basic needs to my household. I feel that this house has provided comfort for my family members especially the children.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My dream is that one day I would own a dairy cow. My plan is to actualize this by making monthly contributions as a savings plan in the merry go round where we formed with members of my village after being beneficiaries to GiveDirectly.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Before the transfers, I used to live in a grass thatched house. I was not feeling very comfortable in it because most of my colleagues had iron-roofed houses. I have been feeling left out because of my low income was not enough to build one. When I started receiving these transfers, I bought building materials on a monthly basis such as nails, timber and iron sheets which I have used in building an iron-roofed house. Today, I feel like I belong in my village like the rest. At the same time, we were able to take balanced diet meals.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, we shall have accumulated enough money to buy a dairy cow. The dairy cow shall bring great relief to us as a family especially on the cost of buying milk which has proven to be so costly to us.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The money helped me in building a new house, something that I did not have before and I could only dream of. I was also able to clear fees balances for my children very comfortably.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I think my life will change in the next six months be cause I will have bought a new set of chairs in addition to the cows that I will have bought, something that I do not own at the moment.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life would have been hard because my kids were sent away from school due to fee balances every now and then.
Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
I am now planning to buying two cows that I will keep as an asset for myself.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I am currently going through is upbringing my family in the current house, my house is so small for us to fit in thus stresses us a lot as it leaks during rainy seasons.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is during the afternoon hours when I get back back home from doing the casual duties and paid, an assurance that we shall buy food and eat together as a family.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I am planning to use the transfers in starting a new business, building a new and more spacious house, buying livestock, registering for a course in one of the institutions and paying school fees for my children too.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
I have brought up my family in a good way though through hardship by providing them all the basic needs required.
