Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The transfer has enabled me to buy more stock of medicines to my pharmacy which I am currently operating. This has brought a bigger difference from my daily sales since I managed to purchase different kinds of quality medicines. The profits that I used to get previously was not enough to purchase the different kinds of medicines, as compared to the financial support that I have received from GiveDirectly. I am now looking forward to getting higher returns from the additional stock.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
My mornings have always been one of the best part of my days. I always begin my day by giving thanks to God and always hopeful for better accomplishments. However, this day was a different one because my day began with good news. I got a message notification around 6 am, from GiveDirectly informing me that I had received KES 55000 from them. I could not contain the joy. I remember calling them back thanking them for the assistance they had sent me. They finally gave me the means to achieve the goals that could take me years before achieving half of them
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent KES 20000 on buying additional stock for my pharmacy that I am currently operating. This will allow me to efficiently serve my clients. It will also increase my profit since I will have more clients. In addition to that, I also used KES 4500, to pay for my children's school fees in advance so to avoid being distracted by being sent home. I am planning to spend the remaining amount of the transfer to do shopping for my child who will be joining high school next year, as well as preparing for the payment of the starting fee which is a bit expensive. Were it not for GiveDirectly, for sure this would have troubled me a lot because raising this money is not easy. I thank this organization because I had almost lost hope that my son would join high school.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My dream in life is to own a chemistry business. At first, I have been doing this business in casual basis as an employee for another person. Receiving this money means I will be able to start my own chemistry because I have the experience, I will be able to earn enough income to cater to my family basic needs. Also to educate my children.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Afternoon is the happiest part of my day. It is this time that I open my shop and meet my customers. Attending to them give me joy and hope in life.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Lack of capital to actualize my dream has been the biggest challenge in my life. This has forced me to opt for other means like starting a small shop within the village. The income from this activity is very minimal. The transfer we are about to receive will help in realizing my dream, a transformation we have longed for.
