How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I majorly depend on subsistence farming which has not been doing well enough to cater for both household daily needs and any other goal in the family. Currently keeping heifers with an aim that once they reproduce, I will have milk for both household consumption and sales gives me a the biggest difference in my daily life. I will have offsprings which to me I can always depend on in case of any financial crisis more so to raise my children's education fee and any other household necessity arising. To me having this cow in my compound is the biggest difference in my daily life. It gives hope that I can always provide for my family.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I had never since seen or received such support in my life before. GiveDirectly giving us unconditional cash is an amazing work that I appreciate. I have changed economically and socially because of GiveDirectly. I don't have anything against GiveDirectly's operations.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
30000 kes, 2500 chairs, 10000solar panel, hh use, cow is most As a away of investing part of the transfer, I took KES30000 to buy a cow. I am happy to own such a living asset since it will soon reproduce giving more young ones that I can always rely on. I took another KES12500 to spent on households items. I bought a solar panel and chairs. I spent the remaining amount on my household daily basic needs.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is happiness and comfort that I currently enjoy in my new kitchen. I had an old grass thatched hut that I had started cracking along the walls and also grass started peeling off allowing us to be rained. I had been forced to cope with all this condition since the little I could raise from casual jobs I do could be enough for me to build another one. I am so happy currently I have a good looking iron-roofed house that I can comfortably ask my children to spend their night in and be assured of their comfort and safety.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
At first, I didn't believe GiveDirectyly and I kept on with my doubts until that Night when I was awoken by an incoming message on my phone. With no expectation of such information of transfer, I took my phone reluctantly to check who might have sent me a text at such late in the night and to my surprise I had received money from GiveDirectyly. I was so happy and made up my mind to believe in GD promises.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I primarily depend on casual jobs to raise my daily household needs. I a mother and my happiness is to always see my family having enough food and healthy life thus I always work hard to meet the daily household basic needs. I spend most my daily earning on my household daily expenditure hence realizing other goals is a big challenge. I have had a dream of building a house since my old, small, grass thatched hut kitchen had started cracking along the walls and the grass peeling off leading to leakages whenever it rain but overwhelming family daily needs could not allow me to build one. When I received my first transfer, I spend KES20000 on build an iron-roofed decent kitchen that I am so proud off. I took another KES7200 to purchase seats and tables that has made my home a place to be proud of unlike before. I took another KES3000 to spend on sanitation in my compound. I had an old pit latrine that exposed my family to a lot of risk since the materials I had used to build it was slowly wearing out. I am so happy that we have good pit latrine that we can safely use it. Since it had been long since I replaced my household items, I spent KES 4500 on utensils, jerry cans among other basic items. I took another KES8500 to spend on clothing and bedding to replace some old ones we had. I am so happy to see a new family life that was transformed by GD. Thank you GiveDirectly.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Currently, I am living in a leaking kitchen when it rains. Secondly, I dont have a dairy cow. We are therefore forced to do casual labor in other people's farms so that we can procure the milk for our three children. Receiving this money is a big boost because I now have the ability to meet my basic needs.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening after I have prepared food for my children. My day usually entails doing house chores.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest worry is that I cannot provide milk for my children since I dont have a dairy cow. I have to work in other people's farms so that I can get the finances to buy a litre of milk from my neighbor
