Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
Alongside the construction of a new house, wi am currently struggling to complete, I also have a new goal to buy a cow. Milk buying has been a routine in our household and we have a feeling that it is almost that time to change for the better. With the Merry-go-round I have been funding monthly, I expect to use part of the money I will be receiving on buying a cow.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Receiving the transfers from GiveDirectly has really been life-changing. Many things have changed for the better and we are really impressed by how things are at the moment. The biggest difference in my daily life is the improved farming we are currently venturing into. Initially, we had been planting any seeds we find but at the moment we are ensuring that we obtain certified seeds from the cereals board. This will at least be more productive and our expectation is a better harvest this season compared to the other seasons.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect my general life to have really changed. The house I am constructing now will be complete and also the plan to buy a cow will have been initiated.

Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In four months’ time, my new goal for my life is to build a house for the family. I am currently living in a pretty small house that does not literally accommodate all of us. This problem also hinders us from inviting guests because we would not want to feel ashamed of it.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months is that I currently live in a house that is fully furnished with seats. Due to hardships that I have been experiencing over sometimes, I did not have the affordability to procure such basic necessities. When the transfers came, I considered this as the first priority and had to accomplish. I also note that had it not for the transfers from GiveDirectly, I wouldn’t have begun poultry farming which is currently my basic source of income for my family.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In six months’ time, I expect to have already built a bigger house that will accommodate all of my family members. I also plan to buy a cow and I also hope that by that time, I will be rearing a cow. I also hope to be getting milk from this both for commercial use and for family use.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from how it was four months ago in that I have been able to buy some iron sheets and timber. I am planning to use them to build a spacious house for my family. The house I am currently living in is small and is grass thatched hence need to improve it by building an iron-roofed house. This is the standard in my village and I would not want to lag behind in a grass thatched house.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I do not have any new goal at the moment as I want to first to complete my current project of building a house for my family. The one I have now is too small to accommodate my family well especially at night. I would want to end this by building a house which can accommodate us well anytime even with my visitors.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is that I am now a happy parent. This is because I am able to meet my family needs on time without overworking myself. Income from casual work was not consistent and enough to help me meet my family needs well. Transfers have changed my life because without going for casual work, we can eat and meet other needs in time.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change in the next six months in that I will have finished building a house for my family. In addition to this, I will have started saving some money towards the purchase of a dairy cow. When the cow reproduces, I will have milk both for my family consumption and some to sell to earn an extra income. The number of my cows will increase which is a very good investment for my family.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different because of having savings in a merry go round. I have been saving about kES 1000 every month over the last four. This is the first savings I have ever had in my entire life. I also have managed to till my own land and have a maize plantation for the first time in several years past. This will give me a break from the very high budget for my daily expenditure as I will not have to buy maize for food further. I am glad and hopeful for a better future.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I don't have a new goal for the next four months but to continue to save and to complete a house that I am constructing.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months is that I stopped being a casual laborer and started to work on my own farm. I do this because I have money from the transfers because last years transfers enabled me to plant maize of my own that I now work on regularly. I now find time to rest because I only work on my farm and use the money I receive on meeting my daily needs. I have gotten a break from the hard labor on peoples farms just to put food on the table.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change the next six months in that I will be having a nice and spacious house for the family and also that I will have harvested and store maize in my home. I will have a lesser daily expenditure per day as I will have the sable food in my own store.
