Before , I have always depended on cultivating my farm using hoes and with my old age it was tedious because I had to put alot energy to keep work going on the farm . At times, I would seek assistance from my children and grandchildren mostly during weekends when they were not that engage either in school or at work . As a result, my harvest was not enough since I could harvest a capable of tins . Today , my life is difference since I have acquire a pair of oxen and its plough that has enabled me cultivate a bigger piece of land . Therefore ,there is no piece of land that is left fallow . I am glad since I am certain that the yields will be enough hence it shall help me in providing food for my family up to the next harvest.

In my opinion , GiveDirectly did well through assisting the poorest households in my village with money which was not refundable . Its enrollment process was very transparent since difference GiveDirectly's staff came at different stages of enrollment .Personally . I do not see what GiveDirectly did wrong at its work .

My daughter after completing her college she has been unemployed for a while . As parent I felt it was just to start a business for her to make her busy and empower financially as well . Therefore, I spent my second transfer to start a saloon business for my daughter and today I am glad that she helps out in the provision of some basic needs for the family like food with part of the profits she makes . Having my pair is advantageous to me because I am assured of cultivating my whole acreage for better yields, and also to catch up with rains which are at times unreliable in our region.

I spent KES 30000 on purchasing a pair of oxen to aid me in my farming. I have been using hoes which are not effective on the cultivation of larger acreage. A larger portion of my acreage was left uncultivated due to the high cost of hiring the oxen from neighbours. I am now at peace because during the cultivation season, I will be using my pair for timely and early cultivation. I also purchased two goats to keep in my homestead. I took KES 8000 to invest in a saloon that my daughter has been operating in town. This has been a source of income for our family. I spent the remaining amount to purchase a new wooden bed to replace the old beddings that I have been using.
