How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
In the last four months, I have realised an increase in my harvest. This is because I have been using part of my monthly transfers to buy farm input such as fertilizers and hybrid seeds which I was not using before. Even if there is a reduction in the rains, still my production is not affected as it would have been without the inputs. I thank GD for the transfers because I finally see the fruits of my hard work which I have done over the years.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal in the next four months is to save to buy a piece of land. I would want to do horticulture farming which I have identified in my area. Most of our local grocery business does not have a stable supply for their products and I would want to take advantage of the opportunity.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I am a farmer who has always believed my life can only change through farming. Since I have been using the same piece of land over and over the years, its production has really decreased. I thought of ways to do crop rotation to restore soil fertility but was not successful. The harvest still continued to reduce every season and I was almost giving up. Receiving these transfers changed my perception of what I can do to better my harvest. I used the transfers to lease in land for farming and also buy hybrid seeds and fertilizer. These ways helped increase my harvest and I do not starin as I used before the transfers.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My life will change in the next six months in that I will be having a shoe business. I plan to save part of my transfers and boost my savings with part of my income from harvest so that I can finally have the capital I need for the business.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I can now do farming in a professional way. I can buy pesticides and pay casual labourers to cultivate my farm easily. I would struggle so much to buy these which saw my farm crops perish due to pest infestation. This would generate a big loss for me and my family but I am glad I have the transfers to buy them and pay the casual labourers in time.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I want to save more and put more effort into the farm to help generate more income.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
My family now have a fallback plan which helps generate income. I have finally ventured into farming vegetables which helps generate income which I want to save and start up a business which will be the major source of income for my family. I want to venture in large scale farming to help generate income which will see my family have a comfortable lifestyle.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I look forward to harvesting and selling the vegetables that I have planted now to start saving towards starting up a bigger business to help increase the levels of income and change the lifestyle of my family.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I have been able to save some cash for the last four consecutive months that have really played a major role in helping me to start off the agricultural project which has always remained to be a far fetched dream for me. Were it not for GD, I do not think I would have been in a position to save the cash like I have done so far.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My short term plan right now is try and venture into agriculture where I will be planting the high yielding agricultural products such as tomatoes which are regarded to be high breed. The reason for choosing the high breed sample is to be able to get a high yield at the end of every planting season.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I am glad I receive this cash every month because for one it has helped me budget in advance and even have the confidence of buying goods in advance because I know I will be able to repay in the future. Apart from that, I have been in a position to always clear school fees balances for my children without so much delays. My kids do not have to be sent away from school every now and then due to lack of payment.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
Right now I am thinking of a long term project which will entail selling of second hand shoes which I will be buying in bulk from Nairobi city and re-selling them back in the village where the demand is fairly high. Through this process I am sure that i will be able to make profits and be self-sustainable even when the transfers from GD are stopped.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Generating food for the family is now quite easy as compared to how I used to struggle in the past. The little cash I normally get from the organization has seen me cultivate my land and get my projects get underway.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I plan to start onion farming business in as much as it is quite expensive and a lot of attention from the farmer. I do not have enough cash right now but I will save as much as I can so that the project lives to see the light of the day.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The money has really been of great help to me because my plans are able to go through as I project. I have majorly invested a lot on agriculture which involves cultivating my land, choosing the best insecticides to use and also investing on the right fertilizers.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
The onions project is what my major program right now because I know that is has a very high rate of return in the market. Once the markets accept my farm products I know I will be able to generate a lot of income into the future even when the organization stops sending me the cash.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is raising enough money for my son's school fees since he just joined form one. I was able to raise enough for a term but am so worried how I will raise for the rest of the year and even for the four years.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is always in evening when spending some quality time with my family after the day's activities knowing that a day has ended without any bad thing happening to any of my family members. I always thank God
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
Am planning to spend my transfer on improving my green groceries business and paying my son's secondary school fees
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
The greatest achievement in my life is having started my green groceries business which has seen my family not lack anything and has also enabled me to pay my son's school fees and purchase other school requirements when he joined form one this year.
