How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from how it was four months ago because I no longer spend money to buy parrafin as I used to do. I now have source of income that I am guaranteed of some cash at the end of the day, because people have to charge their phones. My children now has easy time when studying at home and their performance has really improved as compared to before.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal is to start a business of selling domestic goods but unfortunately I can not manage because I have spent all cash transfer that I was given by give directly.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that l am now using solar to light my house which is very convenient to my family and of a great help to my children when they are studying as compared to before when they were using tin lump. Solar has also become like a source of income because I use it to charge phones for people and get money for my up keep, which was not the case before. The better part of it is that I no longer spend money to buy parrafin which was very costly.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six month I would have started saving some money from my business of charging phones to enable me to start the business of selling domestic goods.

Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
The new goal I have is to use my next transfer to open up my own hotel in Bondo town. This will assure me of more income.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is currently different because I already have hope of regaining my eyesight because I can use the money I received to see an ophthalmologist. When I am completely healed,I can then set up a business that will enable me earn some money.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months,I expect to have regained my eyesight fully,opened my hotel and be operating it myself. this will assure me of independence and the ability to provide for my family.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving payments is that I am more peaceful because I know that I can easily take care of my medical bills.If all goes well,I might even regain my eyesight which will be the best thing to happen to me.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced is suffering from a blindness disease. The blindness began 7 months ago which has made me so unproductive and dependent on other people since I cannot do anything on my own.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when my children come back from school and we share about our day's experiences.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I am planning to spend my transfer on establishing my own home so I can be able to move out of my in-laws' compound.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
The achivement I am proudest of was the sole proprietorship of a hotel business in Nairobi 3 years ago which made me very independent. Back then, I could meet my family's basic needs without necessarily relying on my husband.
