Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I normally grow crops on rented fields for a living. It was a Tuesday morning and my husband and I were working as usual when we heard my phone's SMS alert tone. We checked and my naturally cheerful personality could not hold a very big smile to the good news we had received. I immediately started thinking of the best ways to use the grant with the help of my husband while making our way to the nearest MoMo agent. In that very moment, I thought of using the grant to first buy a cow, pay medical insurance and buy some utensils that were necessary.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Before receiving the first GD transfer, I relied on renting fields to cultivate as the sole source of revenue, but I am now able to get money from the milk that I sell and get manure from my cow. My kids and eat healthier and have a health insurance and it all thanks to GD.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent most of my transfer on a cow that cost me 250 $, I also bought a mattress worth 60 $, home utensils worth 10 $ and paid helth insurance worth 12 $. I've always wanted to own a car first of all for my kids to have milk but also to make it a secondary source of revenue. I was lucky enough the cow gave birth just a few days after I bought it.

What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
As we live in a house which is very old, we will rebuild it by adding cements, metal sheets and so on. We hope to use 400$. We do not have some materials we need at home, we will buy matress of 54$. On livestock, we will buy goats for 60$ and lamb for 50$. In order to increase the harvest from farming, we will buy a land of 200$. The remaining amount can be used for buying clothes and some kitchen materials.
What is the happiest part of your day?
When I go to look for a job and I get it, I am always happy because I get chance to put food on the table for my family and also pay for health insurance.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Currently we are grateful for life and good health that we have. Nothing special that is being hard for us.
