How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The only thing that I included in my goals before receiving the money was that I added in buying maize bags for my household just to be safe for when the rains come
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Give Directly is a very good organization and I think that this should go on and shouldn't stop doing the work that it's doing. This is my first time receiving help from any organization.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought maize bags (10), bought clothes for my children for both school and home and also made sure that I buy cements (3) bags for improving inside the home. I have saved some of the money for a rainy day

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was very happy and thankful. I have always wanted to make my house decent with plaster but could not find the money for cement, and your support helped to make my wish a reality. Thank you very much
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Receiving the transfer was the biggest difference in my life because it answered my long time wishes of making my house decent with plaster.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used the transfer to buy 6 bags of cement to plaster my house. I also bought 10 bags of maize for my family as i had only harvested 6 bags of maize for a 7-member household. I have saved some money to start a secondhand cloth selling business.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am so happy to have been enrolled into the program which I think is very different from other programs. Receiving the money will meant buying enough food for the family. I and my husband, we were given a piece of land during our wedding to be farming into. On top of that we inherited some land from both of our parents. We have been farming in those lands every year but what we harvest is not enough to take us throughout the year. We discovered that, the harvest is little because we do not apply fertiliser as we can not afford it. We know we could harvest atleast 70 to 80, 50kgs bags per year if fertiliser is applied but what we get is sometimes 8 or 10bags. With the money, I want to utilize a big part of the cash gift to invest in farming maize for consumption and maybe to sale.
What is the happiest part of your day?
All day
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship have always been not having enough food for my children. This has promote me and my husband to be working long hours in other people's maize field and ignoring ours.
