How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfer because I have built a house. We used to live in a small house with my family and I had always wished to build a better one but because I did not have money it was so hard for me. Currently, we lived in a decent and spacious house.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well by giving money to the less fortunate people in the community to spend in the way they want. I find everything perfect there is nothing that GiveDirectly did not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spend my second transfer to buy a motorcycle at a cost of KES 55000. This is an asset and a source of income to us because My spouse used it for a taxi. When we get the money daily we use it to buy food for the family, pay school fees for our children and the rest we save it in merry go round group that we have started in our village.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money mean I will be able to own a cow. I have been intenting to own a cow but due to lack of money, I have failed to do so and now I give praise and honour to God because I will soon own one through GiveDirectly.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is during the day. This is the only free time I have to do household chores without disturbance because my kids will have left for School.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in life is lack of sufficient land for cultivation. We were allocated o.3 acres of land by our parents which is hardly enough for farming. Farming has been our main source of income but due to small piece land, we could not harvest enough to sustain the entire family. Our main intention is start a small business to help us sustain our family and over time, we hope to increase the size of land.
