I spent my third transfer on fixing a steel door and windows which are stronger and bought a bag of maize for the family consumption. I also planted trees in my compound and spent the larger percentage of the money on plastering the floor to look decent and prevent the small insects from scrawling in the house.

My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfer in that, I stay in a decent house free from the crawling insects unlike before the transfers where I had to stay in the pathetic evironment since I had no option.

In my opinion, what GiveDirectly did well is involving everyone in the village without discriminating a section of people.

I spent my second cash transfer on buying sand 6000 KES, 16 pieces of iron sheet 11,900 KES , 10 bags of cement 7000 KES, labor charge 9200 KES, pay t.v recorder 3,500 KES, 1 sac of maize 3000 KES, 10 tin of sorghum 700 KES, television set 7,000 KES, timber 5000 KES, table 4000 KES, nails 1,400 KES, exhaust pope 1,000 KES, balast 700 KES, bricks 1,500 KES.

The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have built a toilet and this has improved health and sanitation in my village. A toilet is a small but very vital element in a home. When you lack it life becomes so difficult.

I spent 3,700 KES to buy poultry, dug a pit latrine for 4,000 KES and bought a mattress for 2,400 KES. The rest was spent on buying food.

I am planning to complete construction of the pit latrine, plaster the walls and floor of the house and start a second-hand clothes selling business.
