Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
As a farmer, I always wish to improve my farming by either diversifying or modernizing my farming practices to increase my returns. In the next four months, I have a new goal of increasing my livestock by buying a heifer. I prefer this since it cheaper compared to a matured dairy cow. I see it as an added asset that will not only act as a reminder of GiveDirectly but also be security to lean on in case of a financial crisis. In addition, I will have milk from both household consumption and sales.

I majorly depend on subsistence farming to earning a living and support my family. I practiced old methods of farming since I had no resources to mechanized it. This had always put my family at risk of food shortage year in year out due to subsequent low yields. I felt demoralized of this but couldn't do anything to improve. In the last four months preceding my current transfer, the biggest difference in my daily life is that I have been empowered to mechanize my farming. I employed the use of a tractor during land preparation, used hybrid seeds and artificial fertilizer that has greatly changed my crops. I was able to plan on time and I had a good harvest that has assured us of enough food.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?

Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
Currently, I have been able to plow only a portion of my farm but I still have a large portion lying fallow. I have sn idle section of the farm and developing it requires a lot of money. Since I didn't have enough capital, I only managed to develop a smaller portion. I'm, therefore, planning to use the coming transfers to develop the farm by planting a variety of crops. I'm hopeful that the crops will do well and earn me a good profit which enables me to improve my living standards.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I used part of the transfer to pay for plowing labor and to buy both hybrid seeds and farm inputs which I used on my onion farm. I was able to use the required quality inputs and crops are doing well. I'm hopeful that I'll get an improved harvest compared to the previous years. In addition, I invested part of the transfer on poultry farming. Since poultry takes a few months to multiply and mature, I'm expecting to benefit from the poultry in a month's time. I'll later use the income I'll earn from the poultry to meet most of my household's needs.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My expectation in the near future is to continually improve myself both financially and economically.
