How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My new goal is to focus more on dairy farming. Because of a small piece of land, I do not have a place where they can graze freely. I prefer keeping in a dairy since the milk productivity is promising hence we will be selling milk to earn income. I have started planting feeds in the small piece of land I have and also saving towards adding one more.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, Givedirectly by choosing my village to participate in this project. Many households have witnessed a great transformation. However, I feel like Givedirectly should look into their criteria for choosing households during enrollment since many were left out.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
After receiving my second transfer I spent KES 15,000 in clearing the balance of a Friesian cow I had bought with part of my first transfer. Payment of the balance gave me the right to be the owner. The cow is currently providing us adequate milk for both consumption and we sell as well to cater to other family needs. I also spent KES 38,000 in payment of school fees for two terms for my two children who are in the academy. They were able to study throughout without being sent home. I am happy they are progressing well in their studies.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was a busy day in my workplace, I never heard my phone vibrating or ringing, I reached out to my phone around 11 am when I was free and that was when I saw a Mpesa notification message showing that I had received money from GiveDiectly.I was so overwhelmed with joy, I knew all that I had planned would be realized, I am glad that the transfer came as promised.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my life today is that I now have a dairy cow, which I am certain that I will be able to cut down on the daily cost of milk, therefore saving up some money which would be a big relief on my side, secondly, I cleared school fees arrears for my children meaning that they can comfortably continue with their studies, Indeed this is a blessing from above, everything went on smoothly as I had planned and I am grateful for the support that amazingly lifted my life and those of my fellow village mates
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
When I received my transfer, all that came to my mind was to buy a dairy cow that would enable me to cut down on the cost of milk which was very expensive, therefore I used KES 40,000 In buying a dairy cow, I then used the remaining amount in paying for my children's school fees arrears, I am happy that I was able to execute my plans easily with the timely transfer from GiveDirectly.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have a cow but it belongs to my cousin. I now want to buy my own dairy cow. I have build dairy structures but I have not been able to buy one due to lack of money. A good dairy cow will cost around 600 dollars. I also have school arrears which i intend to clear. I also have to give 10 percent to the church.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening. This is the time i return from work and get to relax and get to enjoy dinner with my family
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship has been financial constraints. I had 3 cows who died due to diseases. Since then i have not been able to buy others. This cows used to produce a good number of litres which we used to sell it and also for family use.
