How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is currently very different than it was before I received my transfers. For instance, I have succeeded in paying dowry which was a hard tussle all through my marriage life. There were days I could spend sleepless nights due to lack of peace that could arise from the constant disagreement with my wife. Secondly, from the transfers, I have succeeded to build a new and decent house. I now enjoy the peace that I had been longing for in my life. Consequently, I can easily focus on my future development goals.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well in alleviating poverty by supporting the less fortunate people in the community. The model used by GiveDirectly is unique but has a great impact on the lives of the GD beneficiaries.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfers on buying two cows for the purposes of paying dowry. Since I married my wife, I had never paid dowry and this situation always deprived me of my peace. Every now and then, my wife could pester me to ensure that I pay the dowry to seal our marriage. The transfers from GiveDirectly greatly helped me and now we both live together happily and peacefully. Surprisingly, our bond of love has grown stronger.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference is that I will be able to renovate my house faster than I had planned earlier. This would have taken me longer if I had received the cash transfer from GD.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When I received this amount of money, I was so happy. I saw my plans accomplished faster than I had planned earlier thanks to the transfers. This made me very happy.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my transfer to renovate my house since it was in a bad state. It had no windows and it had a mad wall. I bought sand, cement, a steel door and iron sheets.. This will be able to make my house look good.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this will enable me change my roof that normally leaks during rainy season. I will also use it to buy farm materials like fertilizer and seeds to improve my harvest in future.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning while working in my tree nursery. I feel happy while working in my farm because it is my only source of income.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in life is that I lack a stable source of income to feed my family. Most of the time we miss meals because I do not have enough money to buy food for my big family of eight members.
