What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent UGX 700,000 on a debt repayment. I bought school uniforms for my children at UGX 40,000. I can not tell how my husband spent the rest of the money because he did not share with me.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well to sensitize people in my community to spend their transfers well in ways that will benefit their households. There nothing wrong with the way they work.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has improved now because I got back my farm land after paying a debt. I have cultivated on it a variety of crops and I expect a good harvest. We purchased a motorbike that has eased transportation for family members. It also does boda boda business hence generating income to the family for meeting the basic needs like food and medical expenses. Before, I completely had no land and depended on casual labour for the family's survival.
