Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so much happy the moment I received money from GiveDirectly. My helper came and told me that I had received money from GiveDirectly since I could hardly read and understand any message that came to my phone. I felt so happy knowing that my plans were indeed going to be actualized.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the house that I am just about to build. I have been able to buy building materials and I am optimistic that with the second transfer I will be able to buy the remaining building materials and start putting up a new structure. Living in an old small grass thatched house will be a thing of the past. This will make my family happy and I will feel proud as a parent for being able to accomplish this long term plan.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used part of my transfer to buy building materials and used the remaining amount to buy clothes and food for the family. I had always wished that I could get enough money to build a brand new iron roofed house but the little amount of money that I got from my casual works and subsistence farming could not allow me accumulate enough and build a decent house. Receiving this transfer enabled me to buy iron sheets and other building mateials that will see my family live in a new house soon. The house that we were living in is a very small grass thatched house that had its roof leaking. Living in such a delapidated structure will now be a thing of the past; thanks to GiveDirectly transfers.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Building a new kitchen since the one i currently operate in leaks in water whenever it rains is what receiving this money means to me. I will then use the remaining part of my transfer to buy two dairy heifers which will be my store of wealth since after they multiply, i will be able to sell milk to earn a source of income as well as sell the cattle whenever i need money to cater for other emerging needs.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Evening is the time i am most happy since it is then that i take a shower, take my evening meal with my family then go to bed to rest after a long and tiresome day
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Food security access has been the biggest challenge i face in my life. Despite having 10 acres piece of land, it has been rendered unproductive due to poor rainfall patterns as well as soil borne diseases. I always feel bitter now that my husband and I have to toil hard doing casual jobs so as to provide for the family hence we have a big land that could have uplifted our living standards
