What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent most of my second transfer on plastering my house and repairing it by changing my wooden door and windows with steel door and steel windows. I also supported my son with part of the transfer to help him build an iron-roofed house.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that today I live in a dust free house after plastering my entire house with the transfers. This has made my house cleaning and maintenance work easier since I do not have to repair my house monthly with mud. It has also improved my family health since infections such flu has reduced and insects such as fleas and jiggers no longer find a breeding ground in my house. Having steel door has made me feel more secure especially at night and not worried over thieves breaking into my house at night

What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer on buying a sack of maize at 3,600 KES, a mattress for my children at 1,900 KES, then used the rest of the cash on other house errands. The maize really helped me through the dry season.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I immediately prayed when I received the transfer because it was a blessing that you can never get from anybody else except GiveDirectly.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The greatest hardship that I face is how to feed my seven children since I am a widow and I get very little income from by charcoal business.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is during the day, when I am able to chat with my friend and neighbors and which reduces my stress
What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will finally construct for my son a house and thus regain the respect from my neighbours. This is because my son has been staying in my maternal home since he has no house and can not sleep in my house because it goes against our lip custom. Besides that I will increase my daily income by selling fish and add to my other business of selling charcoal.
