How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different because I have intensified my farming. I get more from my farming initiative because I put more money into maize farming. I leased more land that is now doing well with maize on it. I also bought a dairy cow from which I sell milk for consumption and also for sale. Income from the two ventures is higher than ever before in my life. I am so grateful that I became among the beneficiaries. Without GiveDireclty, I would still be relying on doing menial jobs on a daily basis in order to feed my family.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well by first educating us on how to make wise decisions but letting us choose what to do on our own. We were able to meet our most pressing needs, source of milk in my household and paying school fees for my children.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the second transfer on paying school fees for my children in primary school for one year. \i then bought a dairy cow that I am now rearing on my farm. I then bought foodstuffs for the household. Due to a famine that was ongoing at that time. I bought two pairs of sacks. Providing for the family was difficult especially because I did not even own a cow. Milk too was very expansive to buy for household consumption.
