How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I am planning to buy a piece of land in order to feed my family because I have a small piece of land.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well to change people's lives. For instance, through the transfers I now have a better house and sofasets of which I couldn't afford before.

I spent most of my transfer on three goats and a heifer as a future investment for my family. I also bought sofasets and a table because I had local ones before and now can seat comfortably well.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the money I felt do happy. I remember it was around 9am when I heard a message tone from my phone. I was doing my masonry work. I reluctantly check it thinking it was just a usually messages from friends. I couldn't believe my eyes it was a message confirming that I have received money from GiveDirectly. I felt so happy and immediately inform my family members who really celebrated. I knew I would be able to buy a dairy cow. I am so grateful for the support because GiveDirectly has changed my living standard.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have bought a dairy cow. I used to buy milk daily and this was so costly for me. I depend on small causal jobs in the village. I do a masonry work and the amount of money that I get through this is so small. I have a lot of responsibilities at home to fulfill. I didn't had another source of income to enable me buy the dairy cow. I had always wished to own one. When I received the transfer from GiveDirectly I felt so happy.The first priority was a dairy cow. Currently I no longer buy milk. I have enough milk for my family and sell the surplus at the market to earn an income. I have never much of my time on project. I am so happy because GiveDirectly enabled me to fulfilled my dream.

I spent KES 30,000 to purchased a dairy cow. I used to buy milk daily and this was so costly for me. This has enabled me to cut the daily cost of buying milk . I used some amount to complete the construction that I had started using my savings. The rest of the money I bought Sola panel for lighting up my house. Finally I bought food and clothes for my family. I am so happy because GiveDirectly has changed our living standard.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Daily I have been buying milk for home consumption costing around 3,000 shillings every month. This is costly for me because I depend on masonry as a source of income where by sometimes on a good month I earn around 10,000 shillings. This is suppose now meet family basic needs and school fees for my children. My desire has been to purchase a dairy cow to end this high cost of expenditures and as well as to add my source of income from its produce. God willing if I received this money I know now my family will own a daily cow worth 30,000 shillings and use the rest of the money on renovating my house and other expenditures.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Masonry work requires a lot of energy since it involves a lot of manually jobs, lifting heavy materials like stones and at the end of the day one feels very exhausted. During the evening hours I get time at least to relax, though tired I know my family we have food in the table and that is my happiest part of the day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is financial constraints. As a masonry person getting a job is hard since less people in my area do employ my services since even them lack enough resources. The little I earn every month goes to buying food and medication for both my family and my sick parents.
