How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is better now in that, My standards of living have improved because previously I could not afford certain items that are very expensive to acquire. These items include Mattresses, Good bed sheets, balancing the diet and build a permanent house. secondly I no-longer have Ulcers because things that I lacked I now own them and I no-longer have bad thoughts of sleeping in a leaky house. Prior to receiving this money, I had lost weight and my community members kept on wondering and asking me questions of could what had happened to me but it all zeroed down to lack of money to feed myself and the family as a whole.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GD has done an amazing job to give me transfers. This money has enabled me construct a permanent house which I never I imagine I could have slept in if it wasn't of GD. GD has helped almost all people in my community without segregating anyone. GD enrolled the whole village and whoever met the selection process benefited from the program. However, I didn't see anything wrong done by GD.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
When I received this money, I decided to construct a iron roof house since the one I'm currently occupying leaks. I have been suffering when it rains because I have to wake up from sleep and stand until the rains stop then I resume sleeping. In addition to that, The rain also damaged my property each time it rained.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Stress is now history to me because I no longer worry about how to look for grass for renovating my house and how to acquire most of the household items that I had lacked. Before I received this cash transfer, I used to walk for long distances to look for grass for renovating our house which was hectic and expensive for me.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my first cash transfer, I felt happy because I had been having low self esteem. Receiving this money meant that most of my family needs would be met and my social status would change.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent UGX 1,160,000 for making bricks and buying other building materials like iron sheets, timber, nails, paying labour for the builders and I managed to buy a mattress and /or blanket. I also lent UGX 500,000 in exchange for an acre of land until he pays back the money while I cultivate on it. The balance of UGX 40,000, I have saved it and it will be spent on building still.
