How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
In the last four months, the difference in my life is that I have a new kitchen. I have been using part of my transfers for savings which I used on buying building materials such as iron sheets and nails for putting up a kitchen. The house I built was not able to accommodate us well with my family and in most cases, I would have to send my children to sleep at my neighbours' house. This is why I chose to build a kitchen so that they could have a comfortable place to sleep and get a well-defined cooking place.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four months, I wish to buy a sheep as an investment for my family. I know livestock is an investment which requires very little resources to maintain and the value increases on a daily basis. When they increase the number, I will be able to sell some and raise money to handle any other family financial emergencies. This will do away with my poverty as it is a sign of wealth.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving these transfers is that I have my own livestock. I had really desired to have any kind of livestock in my home. Due to the low income from farming and casual work, I was not able to achieve this goal. This made me a laughing stock in the village because I was considered the poorest of all. I lost friends because I was considered a burden in the community. When I started receiving the transfers, I started saving and I have used the savings to buy a cow. Right now, I have regained the respect I lost from my friends and I feel very confident walking in the village. I do not feel as poor as I felt before.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change in the next six months in that I will have saved to buy a sheep. I have plans of investing in livestock because I know how easily they can bail me out in a financial crisis. I would not want to go back to the struggles and borrowing I had before the transfers.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
The difference in my life in the last four months is that food and household items such as utensils. Before the transfers, I used to have very old utensils which I bought when I got married three years ago. I felt the need to buy new ones. Due to low income, I had to put up with the old ones. I am glad through the transfers, I was able to buy new ones. Feeding my family has never been an issue anymore. We have always had food in the house because we buy once in a month which has been very helpful.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My additional goal in the next four months is to buy another cow. My heart desire is to have as many cows as I can. When I have the cows, I know I will be able to meet all my needs in the house at any given time. I can be able to sell some to raise money to meet the other needs.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my life since I started receiving these transfers is that I have a cow of my own. My husband and I have always desired to have livestock but due to low income from casual work and farming, we have never managed to buy the livestock. We had tried in our capacity but we had given up. The transfers helped us revive our dream by saving part of our monthly transfers. Right now I have two cows which I have bought among other changes brought in my life through the money.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change in the next six months is that I will be having cows in my compound. Livestock is a source of pride in our area and I would not want to be left behind. I would want to make good use of the opportunity given to me by GD.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
In addition to the feeling that I am always secured after fixing a new steel door in my house, the transfers from GiveDirectly have always enabled me to stock additional food in my house. As a result, I have been able to make my family have three meals a day. We, therefore, always feel less stressed. Prior to this, life was really hard and we could only afford to take one meal a day, and our health condition was not as good as it is at the moment.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four months, my new goal is to buy a cupboard. I shall use it to keep my utensils which I have just been putting at one corner of my house, an open place which makes them be exposed to specks of dust. Consequently, I have lost some glass plates and glass cups which were broken because I did not have an appropriate place to keep them. Owning a cupboard will greatly save me from losing more utensils.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is having bought and fixed a new steel door in my house. My house had an old wooden door which was damaged by termites. It was, therefore, weak and I was always afraid that someone could easily break it and access my house. I presently feel more secure than I was before since it is not easy for anyone to break a steel door. Currently, I do sleep comfortably without being worried of someone attempting to access my house.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect a positive change in my life. I am anticipating to buy a calf which I shall add to the sheep I am currently keeping. With the increase in the number of my livestock, I shall feel happy and being respected in my village because livestock owners are highly regarded by my community members.
