How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Before these transfers came, I had always wished to build a better house for my family since the one I am currently living is too small to accommodate us all well. Resources to do this was a problem since I do not have a source of income. I am glad that I am now in the process of finishing the house and soon it will be ready for us. I am glad to have been able to do these even if my husband is not around. I am so happy that Give Directly helped me actualize my dream of having a better house.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
What I loved about these funds is that it is unrestricted to specific uses and no one would be followed up on why the used the transfer in a certain way. I also liked that people were given the option of doing whatever they wish with the transfer. In my opinion, everything went well especially getting the funds straight our phones. I would not change anything.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent part of the second transfer to prepare bricks for building and bought other building materials using the rest of the transfer. I currently live in a small grass-thatched house, too small to have space for my kids to study. I had always dreamt and wished to build a better and a bigger house but since I had no resources to do this, I was not able to. When Give Directly's doors opened, I knew my chance to actualize my dream was here.
