How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Looking back four moths ago, my life is currently different. I am happy and more peaceful. GiveDirectly gave us the freedom that we had been yearning for but had no means to acquire it. Having our own house has brought a sense of freedom for us and we are grateful.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal is to buy a cow. We do not have any at the moment and we incur daily expense on milk. Once we have a cow, it will save us the daily expense and be a source of income at the same time (by selling milk).
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the new house that we have. GiveDirectly funds enabled us to build the house. Since I got married one year four months ago, my mother-in-law had been graciously hosting us. Now we have our own space and I am happy about this. I can plan my own house now.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to be better economically in the next six months. I expect to have all the basics needs of my family adequately met. I plan to expand my existing business of selling tea and work hard at it to get a good income for us - I will most likely borrow some cash from relatives so as to expand the business.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My parents passed on and left us while we were still young. I had not even cleared my secondary education and life was really difficult growing up without the much needed parental care.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning when I wake up strong and healthy. I am happy when I see everyone else in my family happy.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I am planning to use most of my transfers in building a new house for the household. I will use the remaining amount to start a clothes selling business.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
My parents passed on while I was still very young. I was in standard four when my mother passed on and my father passed on when I was in standard eight. I had always desired to complete my studies and this dream was almost cut short when I was left an orphan at a very tender age. I was left under the care of my aunt who struggled to pay my school fees all through until I cleared my form four studies. Completing my secondary education is one of my greatest achievements.
