How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been if I never received this transfer in that I have built my dream house which I never knew I could afford. At the moment I am at peace staying in a spacious decent house unlike before where we could squeeze in a small house, which made my daughter opt to sleep at my in-laws and being a lady she was vulnerable to physical assault while passing through dark dangerous bushes at night. Secondly, from the profits I make in the business that I had started with GiveDirectly's transfers; I have been able to provide for my family's needs with ease without borrowing from my neighbours and friends.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly gives money with equality hence the money has brought a drastic economic development in my village. My society has been empowered as well because they have been able to invest in small business. I don't see what GiveDirectly does not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer on starting a business of selling second hand clothes. Through this, I am able to cater for my daily needs and sustain my family without borrowing from friends and relatives and pay school fees. Therefore from this business, I have been more dependent unlike before when I used to rely on casual jobs which were not paying well. The remaining transfer I bought water containers, utensils and furniture.
