How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
All my life, I have been desiring to build a house but I have been failing to do so because of lack of money. I gave up on this because the money I could find from piece works was only enough to feed my family. When I heard that I will receive money from GD, I was motivated to revive my goal of building a house. I am happy that I managed to purchase all required materials for the house building project. I am yet to start building my house. I also set s goal to improve maize production because hunger has been a challenge for the past years mainly due to lack of farm inputs. I have managed to buy 4 bags of fertilizer which I will use this year. I am confident that all things equal, I will be able to harvest more and be hunger free.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I am a happy person because at last, I will have a house which I have been desiring to build for so long. My dream has come true because of GD. GD is doing very good by providing cash to rural areas. I also so grateful for this.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
My second transfer was meant for building my house. When I received my second, I went to buy all materials required to build the house. I bought 3 iron sheets just to add on the iron sheets I bought with my first transfer. I also bought 2 bags of cement and timber which I will use when roofing my house. I have saved some money which I will use to pay the builder. I also bought a bag of fertilizer just to add on the 3 bags of fertilizer which I bought with my first transfer. I also bought Mattress and now I am sleeping on a comfortable place.
