How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than how it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I have build a better and spacious house. We are living in a old house which is almost falling apart The house is leaking from inside and we are exposed to cold.We depend on small scale farming to earn income to support our family. The harvest is so small and only for consumption. We had no other source of income to buy the building material for building a better house. When I received the second transfer I found it Worth to build a better house. The construction is still on going. We are almost moving in to the new house .This will the happiest day of our lives. We will no longer buy be exposed to cold. We are looking forward for a successful life under the new house. I will be able to welcome visitors to my house without getting shy. I will save much of my time during the cleaning of the new house. GiveDirectly has changed our living standard to be much better than before. I have hope that everything will work perfectly because we have a good shelter.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly does well by giving money to the poor in the community to build better houses and to buy dairy cows. I do not find anything that GiveDirectly did not do well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of the money I received from GiveDirectly on building a better house for my family. We live in a small mud house which is leaking from inside. The house is so old and can fall down anytime. I also paid school fees for my children in various schools. The rest of the money I bought food for the family. I am so happy because GiveDirectly has changed my living standard.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
Confirming the receipt of the first transfer was the happiest moment in my life. I tried to hold back the excitement but having everyone around celebrating triggered my desire to be in the mix. I am glad that it found me right at home where I could share the news alongside excitement with my children who had been anticipating that great moment too.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The complete construction of a house that had been hanging due to the pressing bills both at home and school is the biggest difference in my daily life. This has been my prayer, and I am glad that GiveDirectly came with an answer. I am now living better with my family as we are enjoying the comfort of a new house with everything new in it.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Upon receiving the transfer, the construction of a new house; spacious enough for my family came first. I made it to put up a decent structure with three spacious rooms, one being the children's room. This was one expensive project since I had to source everything including woods and also paid labor. It was so important for us since we were living in a dilapidated hut with a decaying roof. The walls were not any better too as the crevices were getting wider and were no longer healthy for the kids due to the sneaking cold at night. I also spent the last 5000KES on school fees for my lastborn son.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money will enable me to seek medical attention for one of my athritic knees, which has weakened my right leg for the past 6 years. I am needed to pay $1000 to get a specialised treatment at Tenwek hospital. I had lost hope in where to get this amount but my prayers have finally been answered.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Morning is the happiest part of my day. Waking up feeling energetic is a motivation to drive me in doing my household chores without depending on anyone.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
For the last six years, I haven't been able to engage in farming. One of my leg is athritic thus completely weakening my leg muscles. I had gotten used to farming my I hacter peace of land on my own but nowadays I have to employ people to work on my farm. I rarely sleep at night due to intense pains and I can not afford the recommended pain killers. This is the biggest hardship I face
