How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Currently my family and I happy and delighted to see that I built a bigger and spacious house. In this house, we all fit in and most of the staff is stored adquately. Prior to getting this money, the single grass thatched house I had could not fully accomodate my whole family and storage of property was not proper.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done well by giving me money that enabled me to build a bigger permanent house. On the other hand, I see that there is nothing wrong that GiveDirectly has done.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to buy timber, two metallic doors, a window, cement, sand, and paying up labor that helped in the complete construction of my house. I then bought a mattress, utensils, basket, bedsheets, and curtains. I paid up the development fees that was needed in my children's school. I also used part of my last transfer to feed my family.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the fact that I have money at hand that enables me to spend as I wish like building, shopping, feeding, and paying children's fees. This alone has made my life easy and my family living in peace and harmony. In the past without this money, we always had logger heads in the family but now, there is nothing of the sort.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
Together with my husband, we always had plans that should we get this transfer, we would straight away build a permanent house. Therefore, the moment I received my money, felt really happy knowing that our plans were fulfilled.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer to buy three trips of bricks, sixteen iron sheets, nails, and stones. I then bought charcoal stove, a bed, two mattress, bed sheets, curtains and utensils. I am saving Ugx 550000 that I plan to use to start building and other emergencies.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means building a commercial house that we shall use for business. We currently have only one grass thatched house that is not making any money for us but we sleep in it.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day I after lunch. That is because, I would have finished garden work, eaten lunch and that would purely be my resting time.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is inferiority complex. My spouse has not yet married me and we are not respected in te community. According to our culture, a man is expected to take cows in form of bride price to the girls family as a way of appreciation.
