How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been because I have cows which will reproduce and be sold to get money in future. Before, life was so hard in that there was no asset in the home to be sold and get money to solve certain issues like school fees for the children.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done well to give money unconditionally that has enabled me to pay school fees, pay garden labour and to acquire livestock. This is what I like about it. There's nothing it hasn't done well in my opinion.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
My second transfer was used to buy two cows and to pay school fees. I aslo bought household items like a mattress, then food.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My life is good now, because I have paid school fees for my son. I have also managed to hire oxen for ploughing and I am hopeful of good harvest from the crops. I wouldn't have achieved these if it wasn't for GiveDirectly.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When I received the transfer, I felt happy. I had so many challenges that were stressing and being a widow I had no help. This money has helped me to settle some of the problems.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent UGX 1,200,000 of my first transfer on purchase of two cows. I paid school fees of UGX 335,000. The balance of money was spent on food and for facilitating agricultural works.
