I spent part of third transfer on buying a solar panel and its battery. I used to have a tin lamp that could distract my children when studying as it could go off unceremoniously even in the middle of their studies, I am happy with the solar, they are able to study in peace without any distraction, and fear that the power might go off. The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am proud and happy seeing my child going to school since she had stayed home for one year due to lack of money to fund her education while her fellow age-mates are going to school hence I am now assured of a brighter future for her. I am thankful to GiveDirectly for retaining my dignity since I was a laughing stack in my village because they saw me as widow who couldn't take a child to school.

I spent my first transfer on paying Secondary school fee for my child (5,000 KES), dry corn for food (3,500 KES), and school uniform and shoes for my smaller children (2,000 KES).
