Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was infront of my house when I received a message with a huge amount of money. Interestingly it was GiveDirectly cash transfer. Quickly I ran to my wife with smile on my face. I was very happy and after telling the good news to my wife, she was very happy also. She raised a Song saying that our suffering has come to an end with the help of GiveDirectly. My house has been in a deplorable condition. Whenever the rain falls, our roof leaks. This leakages cause my kids to always suffer with illness. We have been suffering. I had no hope of changing my life condition. This was a burden on me. Luckily GiveDirectly enrolled me on the cash transfer program. I now believe that with this transfer I am going to change my life condition.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
With the transfer, I have been able to buy food for my children, registered them in school and Improve my house. Now my family eats three times a day because I brought 3 begs of rice and some food stuffs that will carry us for awhile. My wife can not stop praising God for his goodness that we were privilege to be enrolled on the GiveDirectly program. My children now sleeps in a comfortable condition. We are now so happy and the joy within my family is so infectious.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought Cement to Improved my house and also paid my children school fees. I usually work on people's farms just to feed my family. I had to do hard labour farm work just to earn a living for my family. To even pay my children school fees was so difficult. What I earned from the work I do did not even match those Jobs I did. Interestingly GiveDirectly came to my village and I was eligible to receive the transfer. With the help of GiveDirectly, my life has changed. Now I can provide food twice a day for my family and do some improvement on my house.
