What did you spend your third transfer on?
I spent my third transfer on investing on large scale rice farming. Having done a thorough feasibility study of my area and found out that rice, which was the community's staple food, had its production reduced due to poor methods of farming and low rainfall that resulted into shortages in the market. It's this market that drove me into making a decision to invest in rice farming with hopes that I will greatly succeed.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has changed a lot with the transfers from GiveDirectly as I no longer work on other people's farms to earn some meager payments at the end of the day that would hardly sustain my family but rather works on my own farm. Apart from that, I do transportation of goods and people using my motorcycle that I purchased with my second transfer. Through this, I have managed to generate some income at the end of the day that has helped me meet my family's daily needs with a lot of ease.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done more good things that are beyond my description. One of the things is the fact that it gives unconditional cash to recipients directly without involvement of third parties.

I spent the larger part of my second transfer on buying a second -hand motorcycle of which I use for transporting my community members to the nearby centers for pay hence I am assured of daily income which I use on paying daily household expenses and school fees for my children as well. I also bought one sack of maize to feed on with my family.

What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
My first plan is to spend part of the transfer to buy a second-hand motorcycle so that I have my own to boost my income. My second plan is to use another part of the transfer to buy three cows that would enable me to get milk for my family use and sell surplus to the villagers to earn some money. Lastly, I plan to use the remaining amount to buy furniture and clothes for my family.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
Having built this my house using savings from my motorcycle taxi work, is the achievement I'm very proud of.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I am currently facing is paying school levies for my two children in primary school.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when I sit together with family having supper.
