Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have been able to improve my house from mud floor to tiles. I never thought I could fulfill this wish anytime soon. I now live comfortably in my house and no longer having a hard time with my allergic reactions to dust as I had experienced before. Nevertheless, we also have plenty of food in our stores that will keep us full for the next couple of months.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy the moment I received money from GiveDirectly. I received two messages at around 6:00 am in the morning that day. One message was from Safaricom Mpesa confirming to me that I had indeed received a sum of KES 55000 from GiveDirectly. The other message was from GiveDirectly itself confirming to me that they had sent the money as promised. I felt so happy and could only grin from ear to ear. I chose to reply the message from GiveDirectly to confirm receipt and say a word of thank you to them. I then called my daughter to hear from her if she had received hers. On learning that she had recived hers, we got into a celebration mood together.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I used KES 41000 to cement the floor of my house and used the remaining amount to buy basic household needs. I am so allergic to dust and for a long time I had wished to cement the floor of my house. I had not been able to do this considering that I did not have enough income that I could save up and do this. I am now a happy mother having been able to fix tiles on the floor of my house. This has not only made my stay in the house more comfortable but has also made it easier for me to maintain and clean my house. I feel so much indebted to GiveDirectly for the timely support.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Investing 200 USD of my first transfer in boosting my business of selling second hand hand bags as well as building a modern chicken unit using 300 USD and adding more chicken to my poultry is what receiving this money means to me. I will then use my second transfer to pay school fees for my son in college next year hence this will help me avoid debts and calling friends and relatives for school fees fund raising .
What is the happiest part of your day?
Ending my day in the evening successfully after achieving the goals i had set for the day is the time i am most happy since it gives me more motivation in planning my activities for the following day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Access to food security has been the biggest hardship we face in our family. This is mainly due to unpredictable rainfall patterns as well as soil borne diseases that has rendered our farms unproductive hence low yields and poor harvests. Livestock rearing more so cattle is also quite challenging now that we sell milk at a low price of ksh 27 per litre,making it a struggle in supporting family needs
