How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Currently my life is different than it would have been had i not received the transfer. Life has been simplified in that the Bakery business I set up with the transfers generates income that helps in day to day running of the household. The money I make from the business helps in paying bills like medical, fees, feeding among others. Previously, I depended on casual labour like working in people's gardens to raise money for upkeep which is no longer the case now.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has liberated me from poverty. From time memorial I have never seen any organization that works like GiveDirectly. I have benefited from GD fully because the cash was unconditional and on expenditure it's upon me to decide on how to spend it. On the other side everything went well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I used my second transfer on buying livestock, lay bricks and start up a business.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My daily life's biggest difference is the fact that together with my husband, we were able to start an income generating activity (business) of buying and selling goats and fish that now is helping us to cater for all our needs as they come. Prior to getting this transfer, my husband and I used to do casual labor to cater for our family needs.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my money, I felt very happy. Since it came when I was at hospital, I really felt a peace in me knowing that I would get proper treatment then.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent part of my first transfer Ugx 200000 to pay fees for my children. I paid some money for my treatment since the money came through when I was sick. I bought some household items such as utensils, hand bag, a mattress and a bedding worth Ugx 205000. My husband and I started a buy and sell goats and fish business respectively. This cost us Ugx 1100000. I am then using the balance to cater for day to day expenses.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
We have 2 school children in boarding schools very soon they are going back school and there is no money to take them back to school. We had thought of borrowing from somewhere and stake some piece of land as collateral. But now with this opportunity GD is going to offer, that is not a problem any more. We are going to use this money to pay all the school dues of our children. Incase there is any balance to remain, we shall buy 2 bulls to help in agriculture. Currently we just hire from neighbours but with our own, it will be cheap and enable us save some money.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the afternoon because it is the time I'm home with most of the home cores. Its also time I have my lunch meal.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced is lack of sufficient funds to facilitate the household's basic needs. There is no money to promptly pay school fees, ploughing the fields and buying food.
