How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I have no new goals
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Givedirectly does well in giving us free cash which has enabled me buy fertilizer. All the things you do are good and there is nothing that you did not do well
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used the money to buy 3 bags of maize, 10 iron sheets, paid labourers who tilled my maize field, bought 2 bags of fertilizer. I also bought clothes for myself and my wife

What does receiving this money mean to you?
This money will help me to build a good house. We are expecting a new baby and that means the family is growing. I cant afford to build now because i dont earn enough from fishing work that i do. My earning range between MK1,000 to MK4, 000 per day.I also intend to start keeping goats as a means of keeping the money. I selected goats because they easily mature and feed on a variety of feed. Plus you can easily sell one and solve immidiate problems.
What is the happiest part of your day?
As far as i can recall i was only happy during Eid Mubarak celebrations around April this year. The rest of the months it was business as usual, no special joyful moments.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My main source of income is the lake. So with this windy period we are not able to fish enough as a result we dont get enough money. Thats my biggest challenge because everything here works when u have money. Under normal circumstances we get roughly MK4,000 per day per person. But now it is around MK1, 000
