How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My goal now is to build a new house. As seeing the current house I am in is in a deplorable condition. I do not have the strength as before to cut thatch to improve the roof. Now that I have this amount of money I am going to use it to build a decent and new house. Also the size of the house has been one of reasons why I am constructing a new house.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well by visiting every house in the town to determine eligible households. In this way no household is left out except the household refuses to be enrolled into the program. I actually have not seen anything that GiveDirectly is not doing well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I am so grateful to GiveDirectly for giving me this case. Through the transfer I was able to buy two bundles of zinc, seven gallons of gasoline which will be used to saw planks for the roofing and furniture works on the house. I was also able to buy ten packs of wire nails.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
"When I received this money from GiveDirectly I will used it to build my house and send my children to school. My mother give birth to me in this village and this is where I grew up. For over seventeen years I served as a volunteer Teacher for the Vohnleh Town public school, the income from the teaching work was not enough to take care of all the needs of my family and in 2021 I was pension by the Government of Liberia without any benefits. Right now the only source of income for my family is farming. The house that I am currently living in belongs to me, it is a mud house with thatch on top of it and that means I have to change the roof after every four years but due to my age I am no longer able to do that."
What is the happiest part of your day?
The present of GiveDirectly in this community is a cause of Joy for me. I am going through so many difficulties but at least GiveDirectly will help me to solved all of those problems by the help of the cash program."
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
As I grow older the challenges are increasing. Right now my wife and my mother are sick, I need to send my children to school and built a new house. When the rain falls my roof can be leaking seriously, I hve to changed the thatch every four years and that is a difficult process. My only source of income is farming, seeing my wife and mother sick without being able to help them is really heartbroken."
