How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Yes. I have been living in a family house all through my life. I was even put out of our family house one month ago. The rest of the family members decided for me to pay rent because I got GiveDirectly money and I refused. That's when I decided to build my house and live in it peacefully with my family.Things have really been tough on me and my family. At times we go to bed without eating food. We have been sleeping on the floor. My thanks and appreciation goes to GiveDirectly for taking shame and disgrace from my face. Hopefully, this transfer will enable me to change my entire life positively.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When I heard the news about the coming of the money in our town, I didn't believe it because of the amount I was hearing about. It was too huge for me to believe until when I checked it up and realised that it was true. Oh! I was so very happy when I saw mine. Right at that moment, I began to sing in my tribal dialect. I ran to my other friends that were celebrating and I joined them to celebrate with them.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I used to worried a lot about my son going back to school. I could not afford to send him to school and allow him to complete the school years because of the hardship that I am going through. I used to make farm and cut palm to sustain my family but the farm crops used to be destroyed and eaten by animals. This situation has made my life so complicated till the coming of GiveDirectly cash transfer program. Therefore; for now the biggest difference here in my life is that, I am no more worrying about where to get money from to pay for my for son's school fees and get other essential needs for myself and my family because of this money from Givedirectly I am receiving. I am happy to see my son back to school again and my family having enough of food to eat everyday.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have been out of so many things that are needed to me. Due to how things are for me financially, I could not get those needs so easily. With this money from Givedirectly, I was able to buy a back bag, a bag of rice, pay for my son's school fees and I also bought a bundle of zinc to change the roof over my house. I am really tired of changing the thatches over the house everytime, It leaks every rainy season. I have also planned to build a new house for me and my family's comfort because the recent house that I am living in is very much deplorable.
