My life is different than how it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I have bought a water tank for storing clean water for drinking and also for domestic use. I used to walk for a long distance to collect clean water and this was taking much of my time which I could have used to cultivate my farm. I could wake up very early in the morning to be able get the clean water. Sometimes the queue was so long at the river and one could take much time to wait. This was tiresome and time consuming. I could reach home and not able to do other chores. Currently I no longer get stress up on where I will get the water since my tank is full. I have enough time to cultivate my farm and every attend to other work at home. I am so happy because GiveDirectly has changed our living standard.

In my opinion GiveDirectly does well by giving money to the poor in the community to build better houses and to buy dairy cows. I do not find anything that GiveDirectly did not do well.

I spend part of the money I received from GiveDirectly on Water tank for storing clean water for drinking and domestic use. The rest of the money I used it to renovate my house and bought clothes and food for my family.

It was in the afternoon and I was at home with my children. We had just finished our lunch and we were relaxing when I heard my phone ringing notifying me of an incoming SMS. I decided to check it and I could not believe it when I saw that it was the M-Pesa message saying that we had received the promised amount from GiveDirectly. I was so happy to see this and I shared the good news with my children. They became so excited too and we celebrated together giving thanks to God and GiveDirectly. My daughter and I then hurriedly prepared ourselves to go and withdraw the money.

The transfer has brought positive changes in my life and that of my family. I have been able to buy the water tank that I have always desired to have. We will hence no longer have to make long trips to the river to fetch water. The rainwater that will have been collected by the tank will sustain us for a long while. I also no longer have to go about borrowing the spraying pump from the neighbors and inconveniencing them. I will be able to spray my cows and the crops in time. The three bags of maize that I bought with the transfer will enable us to have something to eat for a while and I will hence not be having any worries about what my family is to eat. The transfer from GiveDirectly has been of great help to me and my family. I was able to buy a big tank of water that will help me collect all the rainwater. I was also able to buy a spraying pump for spraying the cows and the crops on the farm. The transfer helped me in buying three bags of maize and clothes for my children. I decided to use the money on the following that is to buy a tank and the spraying machine because these are the things that I needed the most. We usually make very long trips to the river to fetch water and hence I did not want my family to suffer anymore. We have also been borrowing the spraying pump machine from our neighbors whenever we want to spray the cows or whenever we want to spray the crops. I hence did not want to inconvenience my neighbors any longer. I was not in a position to do the above due to lack of money. I usually depend on small scale farming of growing tomatoes, onions to earn a living. The little money that I have been getting from it has mostly been going to the purchase of food for my family.
