How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My only goal is to build my concrete house and leave this thatch hut. I have lived in this mud hut since 2004 with my family and it is completely out of shape. Getting my family a comfortable sleeping place is the only thing that will make me happy right now.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
All I know GiveDirectly do is good. They talk to us politely and make us feel important, their transfers change our lives and make us important in the community. My only disappointment is that their staff don't even take water or food from us and I feel bad that I'm getting such help but can't repay the kindness in my little way. I like to show gratitude but every time I try, they reject my offers.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought zinc and roofing nails with some of the transfer. In addition, I also bought some cement for plastering of the floor and walls.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I have been living in a house with a papo or thatch roof. To change this thatch roof to zinc has been a problem for me due to lack of money. I was very much excited to have received my first transfer. I felt that my problems were over. I bought two bundles of zinc to build a house for my family and I.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
The first thing I have on my mind upon receiving GD unconventional cash is to build a house for my family. I actually live is a house that is roof with wide leaf that I gather from the forest. Those leaves are usually eatten by bugs and other insects, for this reason almost every mouth i have to change my roof. It is so Labour intensive and take most of my farming time.
Like other neighbours in my town, I want to move in to a decent structure that is roof with zince and save myself the time of changing my roof every month.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am a farmer and was able plant coco about seven(7) years ago. This year my farm actually started producing. And it have given me and my family a new hope that our live can still be a better one.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My major challenges is living under a good shattered. During the raining seasons I am faced with the worse scenario. We live in a rainforest belts , as such we experience too many rain fall annually. When the rain is falling our roof leak a lot. I am so much concern about my wife and children; therefore i fine a place for them to sleep, while I spend the whole night sitting up and waiting the rain to stopped.
Even though I wish to have a better place for them to live, but lacks the financial strength.
